Mercure is the leading growth brand within the Accor portfolio, with over 200 new properties set to open by 2028.

“2024 has been a transformative year for Mercure,” said Jean-Jacques Morin, Group Deputy CEO of Accor. “The opening of our 1,000th destination confirms the status of a brand that has one of the largest international midscale hotel portfolios. We are proud of how Mercure has evolved, and we look forward to its continued success over the next fifty years.”

Since being acquired by Accor in 1975, Mercure has expanded from its roots in Europe to 68 countries globally. Recent growth in China, now home to over 180 Mercure properties, and Japan, where 11 new hotels opened this year, have been key to reaching this milestone.

Mercure’s appeal to hoteliers lies in its strong brand awareness and adaptability to local markets. As Camil Yazbeck, Chief Development Officer at Accor, noted, “Mercure offers hoteliers the assurance of a strong global network, premium rate positioning, and flexible design options tailored to local needs.”

Looking ahead, Mercure is set to expand further, continuing its mission to connect travelers with the authentic essence of each destination, while enriching its diverse global portfolio.
