Marriott International has signed an agreement with Mullen Real Estate Capital to bring the first JW Marriott All-Inclusive Resort to Costa Rica.
Scheduled to begin conversion in July 2025, the property is expected to open in spring 2026 within the exclusive Costa Elena resort community in Guanacaste.
Set along 885 feet of pristine beach, the resort will feature 415 luxury guest rooms, 11 dining venues, and 44,000 square feet of water amenities, including 17 pools.

Guests will also enjoy a 16,000-square-foot spa, a modern fitness center, and 10,000 square feet of indoor meeting space.
Located 49 miles from Daniel Oduber Quirós International Airport, the project marks one of the first JW Marriott all-inclusive resorts globally and reflects Marriott’s growing investment in luxury offerings across Latin America.

“This project marks the beginning of a strategic collaboration with Mullen Real Estate Capital,” said Uriel Burak, Marriott’s VP of Development for the Caribbean and Latin America.
Jeff Mullen, President of Mullen Real Estate Capital, added, “We look forward to unlocking new opportunities and setting new benchmarks with Marriott.”

The resort may also include JW Marriott branded residences in the future, adding to Costa Rica’s appeal as a high-end travel destination. Marriott currently operates 22 properties across 15 brands in the country, with more openings planned as the region sees continued growth.
