Marriott International marked a milestone year in 2024 with record-breaking hotel signings and expansions across the Caribbean and Latin America (CALA), securing 67 agreements totaling 8,000 rooms. The company added 30 new properties, bringing its CALA footprint to 528 hotels across 37 countries.
Continued Growth and Conversions
Conversions played a key role in Marriott’s expansion, accounting for 32% of signed rooms, as hoteliers increasingly opted to renovate and rebrand existing properties under Marriott’s extensive portfolio.
By year-end, the company had a pipeline of 183 properties (27,817 rooms), spanning luxury, all-inclusive, midscale, and apartment-style accommodations.

All-Inclusive Segment Thrives
Since 2019, Marriott has rapidly expanded in the all-inclusive market, now boasting 36 properties across nine destinations.
The debut of Marriott Cancun, An All-Inclusive Resort and Miches Marriott in the Dominican Republic highlights the company’s continued investment in this sector, with 15 all-inclusive resorts (5,800 rooms) in CALA’s pipeline. Additionally, Barbados’ Elegant Hotels collection is set to join the Autograph Collection in 2025.
Midscale Growth Through City Express
Following the acquisition of City Express by Marriott in 2023, the brand has grown to 152 properties (17,694 rooms) in CALA, with 24 more in development. Marriott is also expanding City Express into Argentina, Bolivia, Nicaragua, and Peru, with eight new hotels expected over the next three years.
Key Markets: Costa Rica & Dominican Republic
Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic remain top growth markets. Marriott signed 10 new deals in Costa Rica in 2024, adding to its 15-property pipeline, while the Dominican Republic saw five deals signed, with upcoming openings including The St. Regis Punta Cana and W Punta Cana.
With a diverse pipeline and a strategic focus on conversions, luxury, all-inclusive, and midscale growth, Marriott’s momentum in CALA is set to continue, reinforcing its leadership in the region’s hospitality industry.
