The La Dolce Vita Orient Express, Italy’s first fully Italian-designed luxury train, has officially launched at Roma Ostiense station, marking a bold new chapter in upscale rail tourism.
Created by Arsenale and Orient Express, with support from Trenitalia and Fondazione FS, the train blends elegant design, Michelin-starred cuisine, and immersive travel across Italy’s most iconic landscapes.

With 31 restored carriages—including 18 suites and the flagship La Dolce Vita Suite—the train evokes 1960s glamour through interiors by Milan’s Dimorestudio.
Guests depart from the Hugo Toro-designed La Dolce Vita Lounge before boarding a journey curated for slow, sophisticated travel. Eight itineraries span 14 regions, from the vineyards of Montalcino to the coasts of Portofino and cities like Palermo and Matera.
On board, three-Michelin-starred chef Heinz Beck crafts menus inspired by the regions passed, while state-of-the-art comfort and service define the experience. The launch journey, “Through the Tuscan Vineyards,” begins April 4.
This new rail cruise model positions Italy as a leader in sustainable and experiential tourism, with plans to expand to a six-train luxury fleet celebrating Italian heritage and craftsmanship.
