InterContinental Hotels to Debut in Brisbane as IHG Expands Luxury Presence in Australia

InterContinental Brisbane opens June 2025, transforming a Seidler-designed landmark into a luxury hotel with 321 rooms, city views, dining, and event spaces in the CBD.

IHG Hotels & Resorts and ISPT have announced the upcoming debut of InterContinental Brisbane, set to open in late June.

This marks a major transformation of the former Hilton Brisbane into a luxury destination within the iconic 150 Elizabeth Street precinct, right in the heart of Brisbane’s CBD and connected to Queen Street Mall.

Designed by legendary architect Harry Seidler, the building will undergo a two-year transformation, blending Seidler’s Modernist legacy with InterContinental’s signature luxury and cultural sophistication.

The revamped hotel will offer 321 upscale rooms, four restaurants and bars, and expansive event facilities, all with sweeping city views.

This will be InterContinental’s third hotel in Queensland, joining Hayman Island and Sanctuary Cove, and comes as Brisbane experiences a hospitality boom ahead of the 2032 Olympics.

The precinct redevelopment also integrates the Regent Theatre and Wintergarden retail and dining into a unified lifestyle hub.

IHG now operates 69 hotels in Australasia across nine brands, with another 26 in the pipeline, solidifying its rapid growth in the luxury and lifestyle space.
