IHG Brings First voco Hotel to the Northern Territory with voco Darwin Suites
IHG Hotels & Resorts is making its debut in the Northern Territory with the signing of voco Darwin Suites, a new upscale hotel set to open later this year in partnership with JH Group.
Centrally located at 87 Mitchell Street in Darwin’s CBD, the 87-key property will be just steps from the Darwin Entertainment Centre and a short walk from local hotspots like Crocosaurus Cove.

The building, a former commercial office, is being reimagined into a modern hotel complete with an all-day dining restaurant, meeting facilities, a fitness centre, and an outdoor pool. Guest rooms will include self-contained kitchenettes, catering to both short and extended stays.
voco, IHG’s fastest-growing premium brand, is known for its distinct personality and relaxed elegance. Guests at voco Darwin Suites can expect the signature warm welcome, a locally inspired treat at check-in, and personalised service from a dedicated voco host. The experience is designed to be both comfortable and memorable, with inviting rooms perfect for winding down.
Cameron Burke, Director of Development, Australasia & Pacific, IHG Hotels & Resorts, said:
“We’re thrilled to partner with JH Group to bring voco to Darwin in a deal that represents a key step in our regional growth strategy. voco’s adaptable upscale model continues to attract owners looking for flexibility and brand strength.”
John Halikos of JH Group added:
“It’s a proud moment to bring voco to the Territory. With a shortage of premium accommodation in Darwin’s CBD, voco Darwin Suites will meet growing demand while supporting our commitment to local investment and community development.”
voco Darwin Suites joins a growing network of voco properties across Australasia, including the upcoming voco Gosford, opening on the Central Coast in late 2025.
The expansion highlights the strength of IHG’s enterprise platform, including its global distribution reach and loyalty programme, IHG One Rewards, now with over 145 million members.
With 69 hotels already operating under nine brands across Australasia and 26 more in the pipeline, IHG continues to cement its position as a leading player in the region’s hospitality landscape.
