IHG Hotels & Resorts has announced a management agreement with Peachery LLP to bring a new Holiday Inn to Ujjain, a significant Hindu pilgrimage site in India.
Set to open in 2028, the hotel aims to cater to the rising demand for accommodations in Ujjain, known for the Kumbh Mela and the revered Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga temple. This addition aligns with IHG’s strategy to expand into high-growth secondary markets across India.

Scheduled to feature 100 rooms, including 10 suites, Holiday Inn Ujjain will provide various amenities to accommodate both spiritual travelers and event-goers, including an all-day dining restaurant, lounge bar, specialty restaurant, banquet hall, and multiple meeting spaces.
The hotel will also include leisure facilities like a pool and fitness center, positioning it as a preferred destination for travelers attending the Kumbh Mela, visiting the temple, or celebrating weddings in the city.
Sudeep Jain, Managing Director of IHG South West Asia, highlighted Ujjain’s appeal for multigenerational travelers and religious tourists, stating, “Holiday Inn Ujjain will offer an enriching experience for visitors seeking spiritual solace or once-in-a-lifetime celebrations.” Mr. Santosh Agrawal, Co-founder of Peachery LLP, added that the collaboration with IHG aims to set new standards in hospitality for Ujjain.
This project expands IHG’s presence in India, where it currently operates 46 hotels across brands like InterContinental, Crowne Plaza, voco, and Holiday Inn Express. With 58 more hotels planned over the next 3-5 years, IHG continues to strengthen its footprint in key Indian markets.
