IHG Hotels & Resorts has officially launched its Vignette Collection in Japan with the rebranding of the iconic RIHGA Royal Hotel Osaka.
This marks the brand’s debut in the country and introduces a refreshed experience at one of Osaka’s most historic hotels, now tailored to today’s conscious luxury traveller.
Situated in Nakanoshima, the “City of Water,” the hotel has a rich legacy dating back to 1935, having hosted foreign dignitaries, imperial family members, and VIPs.

After a major renovation, it now features over 1,000 revamped rooms—including a 700m² suite—alongside 18 unique dining venues, a fitness centre, and 56 banquet spaces.
Renowned fashion designer Junko Koshino has also created new uniforms for the staff, adding a modern touch to the hotel’s elegant presentation.

To celebrate the rebrand, the hotel held a distinctive opening ceremony using a traditional Osaka “Chusen”-dyed tenugui towel, symbolizing the fusion of heritage and innovation, as well as its partnership with IHG.
This launch makes RIHGA Royal Hotel Osaka the first Vignette Collection property in Japan and a key player in IHG’s goal of reaching 100 Vignette hotels globally within 10 years.
The brand stands out by balancing individuality with shared values, including ‘Memorable Rituals’—like the hotel’s daily “Furumai-cha” tea ceremony with live Japanese classical music—and ‘A Means For Good,’ which supports educational initiatives for local students.
The Vignette Collection reflects IHG’s strategic expansion into the Luxury & Lifestyle space, now encompassing six brands and over 500 properties in 70+ countries.
It offers a unique blend of personal character, cultural immersion, and the global benefits of IHG One Rewards.
