Hyatt Hotels Corporation has announced a new venture in Nepal with the upcoming Hyatt Regency Lumbini, slated to open by 2028.

This will mark the company’s fourth branded hotel in Nepal, reinforcing its commitment to expanding its footprint in Southwest Asia and capitalizing on the region’s rich cultural heritage.

Set in Lumbini, the UNESCO World Heritage site and birthplace of Lord Buddha, the Hyatt Regency Lumbini aims to attract both local and international travelers to this spiritual destination.

The area’s historical attractions, including the Mayadevi Temple and the Ashoka Pillar, already draw visitors worldwide, and the new Hyatt Regency is poised to enhance their access to the region’s sacred sites and serene landscapes.

Situated on the banks of the Dano River, the property will be near Gautam Buddha International Airport and within easy reach of the Nepal–India border, providing both business and leisure travelers with accessible accommodations.

Dhruva Rathore, Hyatt’s Vice President of Development for India and Southwest Asia, underscored Nepal’s importance in the company’s regional growth plans. “Lumbini’s profound cultural and spiritual appeal aligns with our strategy to create exceptional hospitality experiences in destinations meaningful to our guests,” he said.

Akshay Golyan, Managing Director of Golyan Group, Hyatt’s development partner for this project, shared his vision for the hotel as a world-class landmark that will honor and uplift Lumbini’s cultural heritage, contributing significantly to Nepal’s tourism industry.

The Hyatt Regency Lumbini will be designed to reflect traditional Nepali warmth while featuring modern amenities. Planned across 11 acres, the hotel will offer 175 rooms, dining options, event and meeting spaces, a wellness spa, and an outdoor pool.

The brand’s focus on community-centered design is intended to foster both personal and professional connections for its guests.

Hyatt’s current portfolio in India and Southwest Asia includes 52 properties across nine brands, with two existing hotels in Nepal. This new project with Golyan Group further aligns with Hyatt’s ongoing expansion and dedication to serving cultural tourism markets across the region.
