Hyatt Hotels Corporation has announced the upcoming rebranding of Thompson Playa del Carmen’s Main House and Beach House properties to Hyatt Centric Playa del Carmen, set to open in late 2024.
This move brings a vibrant lifestyle hotel experience to downtown Playa del Carmen, known for its central location on the bustling Fifth Avenue (La Quinta Avenida), surrounded by shopping, dining, and nightlife.

Hyatt Centric Playa del Carmen will offer 119 guest rooms and suites across two distinct settings: the adults-only ‘Downtown House,’ with 92 rooms and suites showcasing mid-century modern décor and sweeping city views, and the family-friendly ‘Beach House,’ featuring 27 ocean-view suites with serene beach access.
Suites include outdoor balconies or plunge pools, along with amenities like walk-in rain showers and locally-inspired artwork.
The ‘Downtown House’ rooftop will feature UMI Urban Kitchen, serving creative takes on international dishes, and Alessia Dayclub, an exclusive rooftop space with an infinity pool, cabanas, a swim-up bar, and a dynamic events calendar.
For quick bites, The Market offers 24-hour grab-and-go options inspired by local flavors. Guests at the ‘Beach House’ can enjoy a beachfront pool and the C Grill restaurant, specializing in Mexican, Caribbean, and international fare made with fresh, local ingredients. After check-in at the ‘Downtown House,’ guests heading to the ‘Beach House’ are treated to a scenic ride in a vintage Volkswagen Beetle.
Hyatt Centric Playa del Carmen also offers flexible event spaces designed by Niz + Chauvet, suitable for weddings, corporate retreats, and private events, with the ‘Beach House’ available for exclusive buyouts.
This new location marks the second Hyatt Centric property in Mexico, joining Hyatt Centric Campestre León, and aims to offer guests a vibrant launchpad to explore the lively culture of Playa del Carmen.
