Hilton and JM Hospitality Inc. have officially opened the first Spark by Hilton hotel in Canada, located in Markham, just north of Toronto.
This marks the brand’s entry into the Canadian market, with the 72-room hotel situated in a thriving tech and business hub. The launch is a significant milestone for Spark, Hilton’s premium economy brand, which has quickly expanded since its debut in 2023.
Spark by Hilton Toronto Markham joins a growing list of hotels under development across Canada, reflecting the brand’s rapid growth.

The first Spark hotel opened in Mystic, Connecticut in September 2023, followed by the brand’s European debut in London in May. With more than 50 hotels already operational and over 275 in the pipeline, Spark continues to gain momentum globally.
The brand’s success is driven by its guest-focused amenities, affordable rates, and flexible development options, making it appealing to both travelers and developers. As a conversion-only brand, Spark offers a modern, cost-effective solution that aligns with current travel trends.
