Hilton (NYSE: HLT) has signed a strategic licensing agreement with Olive by Embassy to debut Spark by Hilton in Asia Pacific, with plans to open 150 properties across India.
This partnership builds on Hilton’s long-standing relationship with The Embassy Group, which owns Hilton Bengaluru Embassy Manyata Business Park and Hilton Garden Inn Bengaluru Embassy Manyata Business Park.
The move marks a significant milestone in Hilton’s expansion in South Asia, introducing its premium economy brand to one of the world’s largest lodging markets.
Meeting Demand for Affordable, Reliable Stays
Spark by Hilton, launched in 2023, is the fastest-growing brand in Hilton’s history, offering value-conscious travelers reliable essentials and friendly service at an accessible price point. The new properties will open across Southern India, focusing on key regions like Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Goa, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu.
“Spark by Hilton will address a gap in the Indian market, offering affordable stays without compromise,” said Alan Watts, President of Asia Pacific at Hilton. “This partnership positions Hilton for record-breaking growth and strengthens our presence in one of the world’s largest lodging markets.”
Designed for Comfort and Convenience
Spark by Hilton hotels in India will feature:
- Thoughtful Simplicity: Multi-functional public spaces, including communal tables and rocking chairs, to suit both work and leisure.
- Complimentary Breakfast: Guests can enjoy locally inspired breakfast options.
- 24-Hour Retail Market: Catering to the needs of on-the-go travelers.
The brand aims to redefine the premium economy segment in India, catering to the country’s rising middle class and surging travel demand.
Expanding Hilton’s South Asia Portfolio
Spark by Hilton will join Hilton’s other new brands in South Asia, including Waldorf Astoria and Curio Collection, expanding Hilton’s regional portfolio to eight distinct brands. Recent signings highlight Hilton’s commitment to both luxury and focused-service accommodations, including the Curio Collection in Bengaluru, Conrad Jaipur, and Hilton flagship properties in Udaipur and Lucknow.
“Rapid middle-class formation across South Asia presents tremendous growth prospects for Hilton,” said Kevin Jacobs, CFO & President, Global Development, Hilton. “The flexible Spark model, combined with Hilton’s global network, is well-positioned to capture demand in India’s fast-growing premium economy segment.”
A Collaborative Approach
Jitu Virwani, Chairman and Managing Director of Embassy Group, emphasized the partnership’s significance: “Spark by Hilton is the ideal brand to capitalize on India’s growing middle-class and infrastructure investments. This disruptive offering will redefine the premium economy segment.”
Kahraman Yigit, Co-founder and CEO of Olive by Embassy, added, “The demand for premium economy accommodations in India is unmet. Spark by Hilton will fill this gap, offering consistent, high-quality stays and strong returns for investors.”
Accelerated Growth in 2024 and Beyond
In addition to this partnership, Hilton continues to grow its presence in South Asia with notable milestones:
- Debut in Nepal: Hilton Kathmandu opened earlier this year.
- New Properties: Upcoming openings include Hilton Gurugram Baani City Centre, Hilton Garden Inn Surat, and Hilton Garden Inn Jabalpur.
- Luxury Expansion: The Waldorf Astoria Jaipur, anticipated in 2027, will reinforce Hilton’s luxury footprint in Tier II and III cities.
