Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea introduces KOMO, an intimate new dining experience celebrating masterful Japanese cuisine in a setting that captures Maui’s signature glow.

This 50-seat restaurant, including a 14-seat interactive sushi bar, transforms part of the resort’s iconic lobby into an elegant space where precision and hospitality come together.

Led by Tokyo-born Chef Kiyokuni “Kiyo” Ikeda, whose 25-year career spans from Nagano to Morimoto’s kitchen, KOMO’s sushi-centric menu balances traditional techniques with modern artistry.

Each piece of nigiri is crafted with meticulous care—fish aged for enhanced umami, custom soy sauces, house-made dashi, and hand-grated fresh wasabi. The restaurant’s signature Mystery Box, inspired by Japan’s vibrant fish markets, features rare seafood flown in weekly from Kanagawa Prefecture’s Misaki Megumi Suisan market, adding an element of surprise to the omakase experience.

KOMO’s beverage program highlights exclusive sake selections, including the rare Sohomare Kimoto Junmai Daiginjo “Tuxedo,” available only at KOMO on Maui, alongside premium Japanese beers and specialty cocktails designed to complement the menu.

The dessert offerings, crafted by Executive Pastry Chef Ashish Thalakkat, include delicacies like Matcha Raspberry Roulade, Hibiki Chocolate Torte, and Yuzu Cremeux Tart, alongside playful Japanese street food-inspired treats like Taiyaki and Mochi Donuts. As a final touch, guests receive a daruma doll, a traditional Japanese symbol of good fortune.

Designed by Atelier Pond, the restaurant’s aesthetic draws from Maui’s volcanic landscapes, incorporating lava stone, veined quartzite, and marble. The open-air space blends nature with architecture, featuring a dramatic sushi bar as its focal point.

L’Observatoire International’s lighting concept casts a warm golden hue, amplifying Maui’s legendary sunsets for an immersive dining experience.

KOMO joins Four Seasons Resort Maui’s esteemed dining lineup, including Ferraro’s Restaurant & Bar and Wolfgang Puck’s Spago Maui. General Manager Ben Shank describes KOMO as an exciting new addition that pairs world-class Japanese cuisine with Hawaiian hospitality. The restaurant is open from 5:00 to 9:00 pm.
