These recognitions highlight the exceptional quality and unique experiences offered by these properties. The MICHELIN Key is awarded based on rigorous criteria, celebrating hotels that serve as destinations themselves, providing enhanced local experiences, unique character, excellent value, and consistent high-quality service.
This recognition adds to IHG’s history of accolades, with nine top titles from Condé Nast Traveler, Travel + Leisure, and AFAR this year alone. The MICHELIN Keys in Japan join other awarded IHG properties in Europe, including InterContinental Bordeaux – Le Grand Hotel and Six Senses Rome.
IHG is currently expanding its luxury and lifestyle footprint in Japan. Upcoming openings include the transformed 1,000-room RIHGA Royal Hotel as a Vignette Collection hotel and the new InterContinental Sapporo, set to be the city’s first international luxury hotel, both slated for 2025. In April 2024, Six Senses made its Japanese debut with Six Senses Kyoto, offering guests a holistic wellness experience amid the historic capital’s heritage sites.
Guests at these MICHELIN Key hotels can indulge in immersive local experiences. For instance, ANA InterContinental Beppu Resort & Spa allows guests to enjoy the therapeutic Myoban waters of Beppu’s rich onsen culture.
The MICHELIN Keys mark a significant milestone for IHG Hotels & Resorts in Japan, emphasizing their commitment to delivering luxury and lifestyle experiences of the highest standard.
