In the latest installment of its global “Peninsula Perspectives” campaign, The Peninsula celebrates the personal stories of its employees and the unique cities they call home. This heartwarming film spotlights Kam Tsui, a long-standing team member at the flagship hotel, known for his iconic role as one of the hotel’s Peninsula Pages.
The campaign emphasizes The Peninsula’s enduring commitment to cultural exchange and the sharing of meaningful experiences. Kam, who has been a Page at The Peninsula Hong Kong for the past decade, has greeted countless international guests with his warm, silent welcomes, leaving a lasting impact despite being unable to hear or speak. However, until his involvement in Peninsula Perspectives, Kam had never traveled himself.
The campaign provided Kam with a unique opportunity to embark on a global journey, visiting the twelve cities where The Peninsula’s luxurious hotels are located and documenting his first encounters with these enchanting places. In each destination, he was welcomed by fellow team members who guided him through local adventures.

“Kam has exemplified the profound connections that can be made between people of different backgrounds and communication styles,” said Gareth Roberts, Chief Operating Officer of The Hongkong and Shanghai Hotels, Limited, the owner and operator of The Peninsula. “Inviting him to experience these connections on a larger scale was a natural choice.”
The film captures Kam’s adventures in these stunning locations, where he marvels at iconic landmarks like Japan’s Mount Fuji and Paris’s Eiffel Tower. He also engages with each city’s cultural traditions through his other senses: practicing tai chi at Beijing’s Temple of Heaven, hitting a baseball at Chicago’s Les Miller Field, and feeling the vibrations of traditional Thai gong chimes in Bangkok.
Everywhere Kam goes, he is received as a valued member of the Peninsula family, experiencing the same gracious hospitality he has offered to guests in his hometown. “Interacting with people from different places can be challenging, especially as a deaf person,” Kam reflected at the end of his journey. “But everywhere I went, I was met with genuine smiles and expressive body language, and invited to share experiences that made me feel welcomed and included. I have learned the world is a beautiful place, filled with warm-hearted people.”
About Peninsula Perspectives
Launched in January 2023, The Peninsula’s new global brand campaign honors its destination cities and the diverse employees who create highly personalized guest experiences. The campaign includes a series of videos where Peninsula team members share their personal journeys and connections with their cities. It also features print advertisements with portraits of employees in locations that hold deep personal significance to them.
Kam’s film is the first in the Peninsula Perspectives series to depict a journey through sensory exploration rather than voiceover narration. The collected videos, portraits, and stories from the campaign can be viewed on the dedicated website, www.peninsula.com/perspectives.
