Four Seasons Hotel Denver is doubling down on its environmental commitment in 2025, rolling out impactful sustainability initiatives that aim to reduce the hotel’s environmental footprint while strengthening ties with the local community.
This year, the hotel is targeting a 4% drop in energy and carbon emissions, a 2% cut in water usage, and a 5% increase in waste diversion.
One of the most notable upgrades includes the installation of a Smart Valve system, making it the first property in the brand to implement this technology. The system is projected to slash monthly water usage by at least 10%.

Simultaneously, the hotel is switching to LED lighting with motion sensors in guest rooms and common areas to cut energy use, while its engineering team manually controls HVAC and lighting in vacant rooms, fine-tuning systems to minimize unnecessary power draw.
Recycling is another focus, with specialty items like batteries, metal, kitchen grease, lightbulbs, and oil included in the program. Single-use plastics are being phased out in both guest rooms and EDGE Restaurant & Bar, replaced by eco-friendly alternatives like compostable packaging, biodegradable agave straws, and reusable service ware.
At EDGE, sustainability shows up on the menu, too. The restaurant sources ingredients from local farmers and purveyors, prioritizes organic and pasture-raised options, and offers plenty of vegan and vegetarian dishes.
A partnership with Kaizen Food Rescue ensures excess food gets donated, contributing to the 17.5 million pounds of food the organization has distributed across 100 zip codes. EDGE also has its own composting program and waste-reduction protocols.
In a push towards cleaner transport, the hotel has teamed up with Lucid Motors, providing guests with complimentary access to electric vehicles to explore the city in a stylish and sustainable way. EV charging stations are also available for both guests and residents.
Inside the guest rooms, the hotel has eliminated single-use plastics, introduced eco-certified cleaning products, and promotes linen and towel reuse.
Suppliers are encouraged to ditch excess packaging, and purchasing decisions prioritize sustainable partnerships. Art installations by Aldo Chaparro using recyclable copper and silver are featured throughout the space.
Beyond the property, the hotel champions local engagement. In celebration of Earth Day, staff will volunteer for a local park cleanup. Throughout the year, employees also support groups like Slow Food Denver, Goodwill of Colorado, Anchor Center For Blind Children, and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
Guests can explore the city’s cultural pulse through concierge-led experiences at iconic spots like Union Station, Larimer Square, and the Denver Performing Arts Complex.
