Hyatt Hotels Corporation and RLH Properties have announced plans to transform and rebrand the Andaz Mayakoba Resort Riviera Maya into Alila Mayakoba, marking the Alila brand’s debut in Latin America and the Caribbean.
The resort will suspend operations on March 2, 2025, and reopen later in the year following a significant eco-conscious renovation.
Renowned for its emphasis on sustainability and immersive experiences, Alila properties are celebrated for connecting guests with local culture and the environment.

The redesigned Alila Mayakoba will focus on minimal environmental impact, utilizing reclaimed and locally sourced materials while honoring the area’s rich biodiversity. The resort’s 148 acres of lush mangroves and water canals will reflect the ancient Mayan respect for nature.
The transformation includes a reduced guestroom count, with 40% of inventory dedicated to suites designed to promote physical and mental well-being. Enhanced wellness facilities will include indoor and outdoor spaces, a reimagined spa with hydrotherapy amenities, extensive gardens, and a traditional temazcal steam bath.
Culinary offerings will include locally inspired dining experiences, such as a garden-to-table restaurant, artisanal cocktails, and a beachfront eatery. The resort will also feature refreshed event spaces, making it ideal for weddings and celebrations with stunning Caribbean backdrops.
Pete Sears, Group President of Hyatt, highlighted the project’s blend of luxury and conservation, saying, “Alila Mayakoba will inspire guests to engage with local traditions and contribute to preserving Mayakoba’s unique ecosystems.” RLH Properties CEO Luis Duran added that the resort reflects the company’s commitment to sustainability and deep respect for the community.
Guests with existing reservations after March 2, 2025, will be accommodated at other Hyatt properties or within the Mayakoba complex. For inquiries, guests can contact Hyatt’s customer support.
Alila Mayakoba is set to redefine luxury travel in the region, offering transformative experiences rooted in sustainability and cultural connection. For more details, visit www.alilahotels.com.
