Hyatt and Grupo Piñero announce a strategic joint venture, adding 22 Bahia Principe resorts to Hyatt’s Inclusive Collection, expanding global all-inclusive travel options.

Hyatt Hotels Corporation and Grupo Piñero have finalized a long-term strategic joint venture to manage Bahia Principe Hotels & Resorts-branded properties and own the Bahia Principe brand.

This 50/50 partnership, headquartered in Palma de Mallorca, Spain, adds 22 resorts with approximately 12,000 rooms to Hyatt’s Inclusive Collection, significantly expanding its global all-inclusive portfolio.

The agreement includes 21 Bahia Principe resorts across the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Jamaica, and Spain, along with the exclusive Cayo Levantado Resort in the Dominican Republic.

Grupo Piñero, the owner of these properties, will continue enhancing the portfolio through renovations, while leveraging its expertise in all-inclusive travel and a strong European customer base.

Julio Pérez, CEO of Bahia Principe, will lead the joint venture, with Grupo Piñero’s CEO Encarna Piñero serving as Chairman of the Board. Hyatt’s Izet Mahalbasic will join as CFO.

“This collaboration strengthens our all-inclusive platform, offering more opportunities for guests and World of Hyatt members,” said Mark Hoplamazian, Hyatt CEO.

Grupo Piñero sees the partnership as a transformative step, combining its decades of Caribbean expertise with Hyatt’s global scale to elevate service standards and attract travelers worldwide.

Hyatt’s all-inclusive growth strategy began with its Hyatt Ziva and Hyatt Zilara brands in 2013 and was bolstered by the 2021 acquisition of Apple Leisure Group. With this joint venture, Hyatt’s Inclusive Collection now spans more than 140 properties globally across 10 brands.

Details on integrating Bahia Principe Hotels & Resorts into the World of Hyatt loyalty program will be announced later.
