Marriott celebrates its 100th property in Japan with Four Points Flex by Sheraton Osaka Umeda, debuting the brand in Asia Pacific and expanding in the affordable midscale segment.

Marriott International has reached a significant milestone with the opening of its 100th property in Japan: Four Points Flex by Sheraton Osaka Umeda. This launch marks the debut of the Four Points Flex by Sheraton brand in Asia Pacific (excluding China) and reflects Marriott’s strategic focus on the affordable midscale segment.

Developed in partnership with global investment firm KKR, this milestone signals the start of a broader expansion, with plans for 12 additional Four Points Flex properties to open across Japan this year. By early 2025, Marriott expects 14 hotels in the brand’s portfolio, adding over 3,600 rooms in key cities such as Kanazawa, Yokohama, Nagoya, and Kyoto.

Designed for value-conscious travelers, Four Points Flex hotels prioritize simplicity and reliability. They offer essentials like clean, comfortable rooms, complimentary Wi-Fi, and local breakfast options. Positioned near public transit and city centers, the hotels cater to both business and leisure travelers with a focus on affordability and efficiency.

Anthony Capuano, President and CEO of Marriott International, remarked, “Japan continues to be a dynamic growth market for us. With 22 of our brands now present across 30 prefectures, the country provides incredible opportunities to expand in the midscale segment, meeting the needs of evolving domestic and international travelers.”

Four Points Flex by Sheraton properties will be part of the Marriott Bonvoy® loyalty program, allowing members to earn and redeem points for stays, exclusive experiences, and travel perks. This expansion aligns with Marriott’s commitment to providing versatile travel options in one of the world’s most sought-after destinations.
