IHG Hotels & Resorts has announced the upcoming opening of Crowne Plaza Podgorica, marking its seventh property in Montenegro and second in the capital city. The 122-room hotel, set in the vibrant Capital Plaza development, is owned by BIG CEE and is expected to welcome guests by the end of 2024.
Located amid major corporate offices and multinational headquarters including Deloitte, PwC, and the World Bank, the Crowne Plaza Podgorica offers a prime setting for business and leisure.
The hotel is part of the Capital Plaza’s expansive mixed-use complex, which has become a landmark in Podgorica’s business district, thanks to its office tower, upscale retail spaces, restaurants, and residential properties.

Guests at the new Crowne Plaza will enjoy amenities including a restaurant, bar, and signature lounge, as well as several dedicated meeting and event spaces designed for both productivity and relaxation. The hotel joins IHG’s broader expansion in Montenegro, alongside the Crowne Plaza Kolasin, a 93-room property set to open in 2025, and adds to a European portfolio expected to reach 100 Crowne Plaza hotels by late 2025.
Willemijn Geels, IHG’s VP of Development in Europe, highlighted the significance of this opening: “The Crowne Plaza Podgorica represents an important step in our Balkan expansion. Its integration into the Capital Plaza development underscores our capability to swiftly convert properties across our brand portfolio.”
Lev Weiss, CEO of BIG CEE, shared his enthusiasm for the project, stating, “Partnering with IHG Hotels & Resorts for Crowne Plaza Podgorica is a milestone in transforming Podgorica’s business landscape, and we are excited to welcome both domestic and international guests.”
IHG’s existing Montenegrin properties include Regent Porto Montenegro and voco Podgorica, with three other hotels in the development pipeline for Montenegro: InterContinental Resort Cjan, Crowne Plaza Kolasin, and Holiday Inn Mojkovac. Crowne Plaza Podgorica also joins a global development pipeline of 146 Crowne Plaza hotels, reflecting the brand’s ongoing expansion across premium hospitality markets.
