IHG Hotels & Resorts will feature two of its most iconic luxury properties, InterContinental Shanghai Wonderland and Six Senses Ibiza, in the upcoming series of BBC Studios’ “Amazing Hotels: Life Beyond the Lobby.” The series, airing on BBC2 and BBC iPlayer from September 12, will offer viewers an exclusive look at the exceptional hospitality and unique stories behind these properties.
The show, hosted by Chef Monica Galetti and TV lawyer Rob Rinder, explores the intricate workings of these hotels as the presenters immerse themselves in the daily operations, revealing the dedication and craftsmanship that define luxury hospitality.

InterContinental Shanghai Wonderland, an architectural marvel built into a former quarry, will be the focus of the first episode.
The show will delve into the challenges of constructing and operating this inverted skyscraper, highlighting the innovative engineering and the seamless integration of its stunning surroundings with the elegance of InterContinental’s renowned service.
The series will also explore Six Senses Ibiza, a wellness and cultural retreat on the island’s northern tip. Since its opening in 2021, Six Senses Ibiza has become a destination for pioneering wellness practices and cultural experiences.
The episode will showcase the resort’s diverse offerings, from biohacking and silent hikes to farm-to-table cooking and cyclical fashion, all reflecting Ibiza’s deeper cultural roots.
Jane Mackie, IHG’s Senior Vice President of Global Luxury, Lifestyle, and Premium Brands, expressed excitement about the collaboration with BBC, noting that the series will highlight the unique stories and dedicated teams that bring these properties to life.
“Amazing Hotels: Life Beyond the Lobby” will premiere on September 12, with episodes available on BBC iPlayer and airing on BBC2 at 8 PM BST. The feature on InterContinental Shanghai Wonderland will lead the series, followed by the Six Senses Ibiza episode on September 26.
