The Four Seasons Hotel Ritz Lisbon has been awarded the prestigious Green Key certification by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE), becoming the first Four Seasons property to achieve this honor.
This globally recognized certification, coordinated in Portugal by Associação Bandeira Azul de Ambiente e Educação, acknowledges the hotel’s strong commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility.
The Green Key certification is given to establishments that excel in environmental management and sustainable practices. Four Seasons Hotel Ritz Lisbon’s green initiatives include energy efficiency through LED lighting and smart thermostats, water conservation efforts, comprehensive recycling programs, and a commitment to sourcing local and organic products.

Ana Ferreira, the Hotel’s Rooms Director, expressed pride in receiving the certification, emphasizing the hotel’s dedication to sustainability while delivering exceptional guest experiences. “As the first hotel in our company to receive this recognition, we are leading the way in showing that luxury and sustainability can coexist,” Ferreira noted.
The Green Key certification involves annual audits to ensure ongoing compliance with FEE’s rigorous standards, underscoring the hotel’s commitment to continuous improvement in its sustainability practices.
The Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) is an international organization focused on promoting sustainable development through environmental education, while Associação Bandeira Azul de Ambiente e Educação manages the Green Key program in Portugal, promoting environmental education and recognizing good practices across various sectors.
