Hilton announces the opening of three new hotels in Portugal under the Canopy by Hilton, Tapestry Collection by Hilton, and DoubleTree by Hilton brands in 2025 and 2026.

London, UK – Hilton (NYSE: HLT) has unveiled plans to open three new hotels in Portugal in 2025 and 2026, continuing its strategic expansion in the region. The new properties will operate under the Canopy by Hilton, Tapestry Collection by Hilton, and DoubleTree by Hilton brands.

Patrick Fitzgibbon, Hilton’s Senior Vice President of Development EMEA, highlighted Portugal’s record tourist numbers and ongoing demand, stating, “We’re thrilled to have signed three new properties across three of our world-class brands, further expanding our Portuguese portfolio of more than 20 hotels trading and in our pipeline. Standing strong as a popular destination known for its warm and inviting culture, beautiful landscapes, and fantastic food and drink, we are proud to be further enhancing the range of options for travelers in Portugal.”

Canopy by Hilton Vilamoura Marina

The Canopy by Hilton Vilamoura Marina will open in 2026, offering an elevated, boutique experience through a franchise agreement with Arrow Global Group. The 155-room hotel, situated just 500 meters from Praia da Vilamoura, will feature amenities including a restaurant, bar, Canopy Central, a spa, outdoor pool, and fitness center.

Francisco Moser, CEO of Hospitality at Details Hospitality, Sports & Leisure, expressed excitement about the new property, noting the Algarve’s significant demand for high-quality accommodations and positioning the hotel as a new lifestyle option in the region.

Santo André Beach Hotel, Tapestry Collection by Hilton

Scheduled to open in 2025, Santo André Beach Hotel will be Hilton’s first property in Santiago do Cacém. Operated under a franchise agreement with Mercan Properties Group, the hotel will offer 44 guest rooms, a restaurant, bar, gym, and a rooftop pool with sea views. It will be located near the Santo André and Sancha Lagoons Natural Reserve and Santo André Beach.

DoubleTree by Hilton Lisbon Airport

Also opening in 2025, the DoubleTree by Hilton Lisbon Airport will feature 199 guest rooms and 20 suites, positioned just a five-minute drive from Lisbon Airport. The hotel, a franchise with Mercan Properties Group, will cater to both business and leisure travelers, offering a restaurant, bar, breakfast area, meeting facilities, fitness room, and outdoor space. Guests will also enjoy the signature DoubleTree chocolate chip cookie upon arrival.

Jordi Vilanova, President of Mercan Properties Portugal, highlighted the broader benefits of these projects, including job creation and local investment. The three new properties are expected to generate approximately 325 jobs.

Hilton Honors members will have access to rewards and benefits, including contactless check-in, room selection, and exclusive member discounts.

The Canopy by Hilton Vilamoura Marina will be located at Avenida Tivoli Lote H4, 8125-410. Santo André Beach Hotel, Tapestry Collection by Hilton will be at Costa de Santo André, Santiago do Cacém, and DoubleTree by Hilton Lisbon Airport at Avenida Severiano Falcão 8, 2685-338 Prior Velho.
