On May 1, following nine months of extensive renovations, the Cape Grace hotel will unveil its new interiors inspired by South African heritage, culture, and art. Managed by the Fairmont brand, this iconic Cape Town hotel, located facing the renowned V&A Waterfront, has been stylishly transformed by the acclaimed architecture and interior design firm 1508 London.
The renovation marks Cape Grace’s evolution from a bustling trading port to a premier international destination. This reimagined space signals the beginning of a new chapter, as it becomes the first Fairmont hotel in South Africa, joining a prestigious collection of 90 establishments worldwide.
The updated interiors celebrate South Africa’s rich landscapes, languages, vibrant arts scene, and diverse cultures. The hotel will feature carefully selected works by local artists, while contemporary design materials will subtly reflect the spirit of Cape Town and its natural beauty.

On the culinary front, Cape Grace has partnered with renowned Cape Town chef Gregory Czarnecki to deliver sophisticated South African-inspired cuisine at the new Heirloom restaurant. Heirloom, named to honor the hotel’s familial roots, will feature an eight-course tasting menu that showcases local ingredients.
Guests can unwind at the Pool Bar beside the stunning outdoor pool after a morning of city exploration. The Library Lounge will offer traditional Afternoon Tea, blending literature with the art of mixology. Evenings at the renovated Bascule Bar & Lounge will be an opportunity to savor a drink from the extensive whiskey collection or the exceptional wine cellar, all set against interiors that celebrate South Africa’s rich history.
The new Fairmont Spa at Cape Grace will provide treatments that highlight the best of local nature, including personalized bath rituals, jet lag alleviation treatments, detox massages, salt cave sessions, guided meditation, and custom packages, all designed to offer an oasis of calm and relaxation.
Situated near Cape Town’s cultural, culinary, and historical highlights, Cape Grace has been a premier destination since its opening in 1996.
